  1. Welcome to !Resistor version 2.23 (15th April 1992)

  4. !Resistor was written by James Hunter (Jelly of SJPD) and is PUBLIC DOMAIN
  5. which means that you can give someone else a copy of this proggy without
  6. been at risk of being done for copyright. Having said that you MUST keep
  7. this file unaltered in the !Resistor directory along with all the other
  8. files.

  11. following file are contained with in the directory and NO OTHERS...

  18. How to use !Resistor
  19. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  21. This file has been diveded up into sections which each contain one of the
  22. functions of !Resistor. However I can only give brief details or this file
  23. would be too big! If you dont understand something orfind a bug contact us
  24. at the address in the Info window on the menu's.

  28. Opening the windows

  31. If you click with 'menu' (middle mouse button) over the !Resistor icon the
  32. menu will apear. Clicking on 'Colour-Value' or 'Value-Colour' will open the
  33. various windows. If you go to the menu again you will see a tick next to the
  34. option for the window (as it is open), clicking on a ticked option will
  35. close the window (tick goes off). As a short cut you can click on the icon
  36. with 'select' (left mouse button) which will open both windows or on the
  37. icon with 'adjust' (right mouse button) to close both windows..

  41. Resistor Value-Colour
  42. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  44. Type in the value of your resistor into the 'Value of resistor' box (in
  45. Ohms) and then type in the tolerance (5%, 10% or 20%) into the 'Tolerance of
  46. resistor' box. The icons below (in the grey boxes) will automaticly update
  47. to show the right colours and the tolerance band (the colour that is).
  48. You may have noticed that this program only uses the more common 3/4 band
  49. resistor not the strange 5 colour band type but this may be included in a
  50. later version.

  66. Resistor Colour-Value

  69. This is the easy part! Simply click on the coloured bands on the resistor
  70. and you will notice that the writting in the boxes above will change so to
  71. will the coloured bands. Clicking with select goes forwards (in order)
  72. through the colours and clicking with adust goes backwards through them
  73. (the colours are shown on the right of the window so you know what comes
  74. next). Once you have set all the colours correctly in the window look at the
  75. information in the grey box at the bottom which again will automaticaly
  76. update every time you change a colour.

  80. !Resistor - form the very start

  83. Version 0.10 (15 Mar 89)        Released onto the BBC micros as a cheep and
  84.                                 nasty program with very few facilities.
  85.  
  86. Version 1.00 (05 Jan 90)        First Archimedes release (oh help!). Runs
  87.                                 from the desktop otherwise few improvments
  88.                                 on version 0.10.

  90. Version 1.10 (29 Jan 91)        This time mouse functions were added but
  91.                                 still ran in nasty Obey/Basic file window so
  92.                                 looked horrible. Col-val, val-col and colour
  93.                                 codes list avalible.

  95. Version 1.11 (02 Feb 91)        Same as above but with OS_Confirm mouse
  96.                                 request quit function.

  98. Version 2.00 (09 Feb 92)        Over a year later- compleatly re-written
  99.                                 fully multitasking desktop application. Nice
  100.                                 windows made and tolerance functions added.

  102. Version 2.20 (26 Feb 92)        Mainly as above but now shows the colours
  103.                                 graphically by changing the coloured bands
  104.                                 on the resistor, error system updated.

  106. Version 2.21 (04 Apr 92)        As above but a few minor bugs removed, new
  107.                                 info box about SJPD added. Massive resistor
  108.                                 in templates removed and three icons added
  109.                                 to relpace it. Nice 'Resistor' text added in
  110.                                 the info box, a few more bugs corrected and
  111.                                 a new error loop.

  113. Version 2.23 (15 Apr 92)        As above but this time I activated the new
  114.                                 error routine instead of just typing it in
  115.                                 (oops!). All now works although I don't know
  116.                                 how to get an error so can't test that
  117.                                 function!

  124. At the moment I have no plans to change !Resistor in any great way. If you
